Snapshots from our first day of home schooling

How about a few snapshots from our first day? I am a bit lost and trying to figure things out and there are challenges for sure, but I am enjoying the way we can pace our day to fit us. Mostly slowing down.

Ideas for the summer

I just saw this article in mothering and wanted to remind myself of these things for the summer. I thought I would post it here for easy reference.

It’s almost summer now and those warm endless days and nights are near. Here are some ideas to encourage playfulness:

Go bike riding.

Take a walk at night when the moon is full.

Gaze at the stars.

Go on a bug safari.

Make some large cardboard appliance boxes available.

Give your children a video camera to use.

Make a detailed map of your yard, your house, your neighborhood.

Have a scavenger hunt.

Put on a treasure hunt.

Invite the neighborhood over for a circus.

Make boats from wood scraps and corks with paper or fabric sails and sail them down a creek or in the gutters.

Decorate each other’s faces with face paints.

Fill a toy box with old clothes, skarves, jewelry, hats, and shoes.

Make an outdoor obstacle course or par course.

Fill walnut shell halves with candle wax and a tiny wick. Light them and place them around the garden or on a pond at night.

these moments

{this moment} – A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

If you’re inspired to do the same, leave a link to your ‘moment’ in the comments for all to find and see.

I can’t follow the rules today.REBEL! I have three photos I want to remember from this week. I am sure you all understand.

Blog Love

Lately, I have discovered two blogs I am really loving. They both happen to be from Australia, which I find interesting. I don’t know much about their culture but I am interested to learn more.– which is about a young photographer and her family.
The next one is about childhood and imagination.
Check them out and let me know what you think.

Ice pops

It gets so hot here in florida and it stays that way for about five months. I like to make ice pops for the kids to eat. This past week we made watermelon pops and blueberry/apple juice. It makes my heart happy to see them enjoying them and knowing how healthy and simple they are.         ( These are mobile uploaded pictures and I don’t know how to rotate them, help!)

Homemade cards

Every year,  I send out a photo card with the kids on it. This year I decided to do something different and have the kids make the cards themselves. I am not attached to how these will turn out, the relatives will love them. I cut up the shape out of card stock. That took like 5 minutes and then showed them how the stamps work and printed a few cute clip art pictures. I printed a picture of all three kids and that will go inside so no one will be deprived of an adorable photo of my kids.

weekend snapshots

A few images from our weekend. I am loving having a phone in my camera that loads right to the internet. So my quality may be off a little, but it’s more realistic. Not me running around with my nice camera quite as much.
